From a design aspect, the best wedding lipstick is either one of two things:
The most important piece of the entire day OR the most forgotten about detail and the last minute shopping has ensued.
Either way, you’ve come to the right place! As a makeup fanatic, I’ve tested just about every lipstick that has hit the market. From your deep reds, to neutral nudes, I have tried every lipstick that hits this list.
When choosing a wedding lipstick, there are a few key components that should take priority:
- The shade (obviously no one wants a bold red lip if their theme is neutrals)
- The transfer (are you going to leave a massive lip stain on your brand new partner’s lips after your first kiss?)
- And the wearability (you don’t want to have to keep reapplying every 30 minutes during your special day!)
With all of that in mind, there are a few lipsticks that I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who asks for a recommendation. There are various price points here because a high quality lipstick shouldn’t break the bank 🙂
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture Caring Satin Lipstick
Without a doubt, the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Satin Lipstick in the shade N5 – Tribute Nude, has to be my all time favorite lipsticks. It’s creamy, pigmented, and best of all, stays on your lips ALL night. I’ve worn this enough to know that it’s one of the most underrated lipsticks. This is definitely one of the more lightweight lipsticks on this list but don’t underestimate the sheer beauty that YSL has created. Although this lipstick is on the pricier side ($48), it is absolutely worth it.
Makeup by Mario SuperSatin Lipstick
A fan favorite, the Makeup By Mario SuperSatin Lipstick in the shade 917 – midtone warm rose, has become viral over the last few years for staying put during the day. A more pigmented option, this lipstick may be better for a more full-coverage look on your wedding day, rather than a soft or natural glam. At a mid-price point ($28), this lipstick is a good investment for your special day.
Pat McGrath Labs SatinAllure Lipstick
The Pat McGrath Labs SatinAllure Lipstick in the shade Nude Romantique 2, is not only one of the most beautiful on the lips, but it’s one of the most beautiful off as well. With a baby blue exterior and a beautiful golden bow, the packaging is truly one of a kind. While beautiful, my favorite part about this lipstick is the creamy, blendable texture that lends itself to either a soft glam or a bold look. Sitting in the middle of the road in terms of prices ($30), the packaging itself makes wedding pictures look beautiful.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Satin Shine Lipstick
Another viral brand, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Satin Shine Lipstick in the shade Pillow Talk, is a staple for any neutral-loving bride. Having gone viral for a reason, the Pillow Talk collection is one of Charlotte Tilbury’s most iconic shades. It’s both neutral and a statement at the same time. One of my favorite features of this lippie is the fact that it’s hydrating. Whenever I take off regular lip products, I feel like I have to apply Aquaphor immediately. With this product, it has a beautiful satin finish and leaves my lips feeling just as hydrated as before. On the pricier side, this lip product is around $35.
Merit Signature Lipstick
Coming in both Satin and Matte finishes, the Merit Signature Lip in shade Baby, is a tried and true lip product. It provides a very satin finish with minimal coverage but the color can be built to provide more coverage. Another very hydrating lippie, the Merit Signature Lip ($26) is a less expensive option on this list. However, one of my favorite parts about this lipstick is that the packaging is beautiful and can make a photo opportunity that much more elegant.
