After your big day, you deserve to have a constant reminder of those happy mems! We’ve put together all of the tips & tricks that you NEED to know for the best Wedding Flower Preservation!
1.) Having Some Help
During your wedding day, the last thing that you’re worried about is remembering to grab your wedding bouquet. Designate a bridesmaid, MOH, mom, or friend to grab your bouquet from you.
This will help alleviate any stress that you may feel during the day. From there, have them disassemble your bouquet, cut the stems ¼” and place in some water. This will help the flowers stay alive and vibrant until you get home.
You can totally keep the ribbon (or whatever was holding your bouquet together) for keepsakes, or include it in the Wedding Flower Preservation.
2.) Hang-Dry Your Flowers
Something I will always remember from growing up was my mom hang-drying hydrangeas in our garage. It was something I found very confusing at the time, but when she would have the most beautiful dried arrangements, I understood.
All you need to hang-dry your flowers is some twine or string and a dark, dry place to hang them! After your wedding, cut the stems about ¼”, making sure to leave at least 6-8 inches, and bunch them together. Tie them with twine/string so they stay bunched, and hang them, upside-down, in your dark and dry place.
This can take 3-4 weeks, depending on the temperature of where you’re storing the flowers. Once they are all dried out, you can buy display frames or display boxes to showcase your flowers!
3.) Preservation in Resin
Resin is one of those things that went viral on social media during the pandemic. Everyone was using resin to encase trinkets, flowers, and other fun things! Using resin can be tricky, so using a resource such as Etsy can be super helpful.
I’ve attached an Etsy Seller that has wonderful reviews and specializes in Wedding Flower Preservation!

If you do choose to do the resin-encasing at home, there are a few tips to doing it!
Most people who use resin to encase flowers, dry the flowers prior. You can then pour some resin into the mold & then arrange your flowers as you like. Layering the resin into the mold will ensure that there are no air bubbles, which can lead to moldy flowers (gross!).
4.) Send ‘em to your Florist!
The most expensive, but the most convenient option, is to send your bouquet to your florist or a botanist. They usually have many more options in terms of Wedding Flower Preservation such as silica gel, wax, etc.
If you are going through your florist, be sure to ask if this is something they offer & how much it cost BEFORE they take your bouquet. Getting caught up in the wedding chaos is much easier than you think. So will you want to be sure this is something that your florist offers!
